WORLD ENVIRONMENTAL DAY

Thus Friday is World Environmental Day - Let us all be extra caring for the world around us, "we don't inherit the earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children."

EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT ELECTIONS

The bishops have called on all of voters in the European Parliament election to opt for candidates to elect representatives who could actively contribute for legislation, programmes and policies which respected life from conception to death, who supported families based on marriage between men and women, safeguarded workers' social rights, promoted economic measures based on ethical values, were in solidarity with the weak and poor, and were sensitive towards the environment. Some of us were looking for some solid material to help people reflect on what the stakes for the upcoming European elections were. Click here for some material to help you. You can also check out this website and participate in the online debates.....!!

CLC MALTA JOINS FACEBOOK

A specific group for all Maltese CLCers has been just been created and you are welcome to join. Anyone can see the group description, but only members of the group (which must be pre-approved) can see the Wall, discussion board and photos. I am still a bit green but I think this tool has great potential.

A big thank you to all those who joined already. Feel free to post on the wall and involve yourselves in the discussions. Your feedback is most welcome. Feel free to join us on Facebook and share the experience. Kindly specify your community when asking to join. We can be found on:

FORMATION SEMINAR

Sunday 14th June 2009 @ Mount St Joseph

A seminar including Mass and Lunch is planned for the ongoing formation of CLC guides and the strengthening of bonds among CLC leaders. The focus of the day is the Guide's identity and a clearer vision of the CLC path. We will also launch the new online resources project, to help group leaders become more creative. The seminar is open to all coordinators, aspiring CLC leaders and potential guides. This day will provide the necessary space to share resources and help build a healthier National Community. CLC will cover the costs of at least one person from each community. Confirm your attendance by Wed 10th June.

 ‘IN THEIR SHOES’

The Young Communities Team and helpers are currently occupied with the project of raising awareness about the plight of refugees – ‘In Their Shoes’. Contact Alison Vella for more details.

This EU-funded CLC project was recently granted an extension till January 2010 to enable the experience to be taken up by even more students. It was recently chosen as a ‘Good Practice Project’ by the European Union Programmes Agency and was presented to the EU Commissioner for Education and Culture.
